The CCTV Operator is responsible for safeguarding the public, protecting property, and ensuring the security of data. He/she will be handling responsibilities ranging from operating and monitoring banks of screens, reporting incidents as evidence, and potentially contacting the police and emergency services, if and when required.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Operates, maintains, and knows how to do basic troubleshooting of video surveillance equipment
- Properly stores footage according to company needs
- Observes keenly computer monitors for any unusual, suspicious, or questionable activities in the property
- Reports incidents to appropriate authorities at the appropriate time. For serious situations, reports to the authorities’ plate numbers, clothing, tattoos, or any other identifying features
- Processes digital viewing requests from the authorities and issue evidence packs for evidential purposes
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's in Criminology or any related course
- Must be exceedingly observant
- Must be able to divide attention in order to monitor multiple occurrences taking place in one setting
- Must have a thorough understanding of CCTV system and its equipment
- Has the ability to work independently
- Has the ability to assess and react quickly to situations as they occur
