MANDAUE CITY, Cebu – As a show of solidarity with the nation in commemorating the National Flag Day this May 28, 2019, C ebu-based real estate firm Oakridge Realty Development Corp. (ORDC) will mark the occasion with the raising of the Philippine Flag inside its flagship property project, the Oakridge Business Park.
As stipulated in the Official Gazette, on March 6, 1965, Presidential Proclamation No. 374 was issued declaring May 28 as National Flag Day to commemorate the date the national emblem was first unfurled after the Philippine Revolutionary Army defeated the Spanish forces in the Battle at Alapan, Imus, Cavite in 1898. It was after that battle on May 28 that General Aguinaldo unfurled, for the first time, what would become the Philippines’ national flag. However, it was not until June 12, 1898 that the flag was formally presented to the people.
On May 23, 1994, Executive Order No. 179 was issued extending the period of celebrating National Flag Day from May 28 to June 12. All Filipinos are thereafter encouraged to display the Philippine flag in all offices, agencies and instruments of government, business establishments, schools, and private homes throughout this period.
Oakridge Realty, along with its various tenants, will join in commemorating National Flag Day with a flag ceremony to be held at the Oakridge Atrium inside Oakridge Business Park at exactly 8:00 am on May 28, Tuesday morning. This will be done in conjunction with simultaneous flag ceremonies to be synchronized and held in different locations nationwide . As a show of national pride and patriotism, the ceremony in Oakridge Business Park will also include a recitation of the Pagpupugay as well as the Panunumpa ng Katapatan sa Watawat ng Pilipinas.
Oakridge Realty is among the key businesses in the private sector who have pledged support to the “Salute To A Clean Flag Movement,” a non-political citizen initiative that aims to reignite patriotism through the abundant and proper display of the Philippine Flag, with Oakridge Business Park being one of the 140 locations nationwide in the private sector group who will be participating in this momentous event.
To further the company’s support for this campaign, Philippine flags will also be displayed around Oakridge Business Park starting May 28 and will continue to be displayed through Independence Day, June 12, until the end of the National Flag month.
